Recent Beginners Class
Recent Beginners classes assume only the knowledge
gained from a Beginners tango course.
The aim of Recent Beginners classes is to bridge the gap
between the Beginners course and the Intermediate
classes. You don't need a partner.
Concession
Free entry to
the following Beginners class if you take a Recent
Beginners class.
You benefit by revising what you learned in the
Beginners tango course. People taking the Beginners
course benefit by practicing with someone more advanced.
Class structure
Each class stands alone, making no assumption about
the preceding week's class. The only assumed
knowledge is that from the Beginners tango course.
Normally there will be only one topic per class.
Class content
Very wide. The following is a list of some of
the more obvious topics:
parallel and crossed system of walking; crossed basic
steps; back ocho; giros (turns); types of embrace;
cunita (cradle); boleo; sacada; sweep; gancho; double-time; pausing;
dancing to the melody; phrasing; improvisation; milonga;
vals; music of different orchestras; navigation in the
milonga; behaviour in the milonga ...
Place, time, price
Recent Beginners tango classes are held at Conway
Hall in the Brockway room or, if it is unavailable, the
smaller Brockway
room. See how to find us.
Each class is from 7:30 to 8:30pm and costs £10 per
person. It may seem odd to hold the Recent
Beginners class before the Beginners class.
However, doing so gives Recent Beginners the option of
more time in the milonga (which they are more likely to
need than are Beginners.) |
